The Land of Isis by Tiberius

The Land of Isis is unique in that it closely ties in with another area, that of Persia (which was alson done by Tiberius); there are a few "related" quests and such between them, and a few cross refrences. Some parts of these areas are master works - the beautiful handling of the pyramid, the complexity of the mobs and some of the progs, while others are mediocore or even below average. I'll (of course) talk about both below.

The mobs of the Land of Isis are fairly tough for thier level, but present no real challange to a prepared hero (though some are quite difficult, few appear to "hit through" charmies, or be overly powerful). The mummy's in the pyramid are quite interesting - and there's even a "curse" involved with the pyramid. i've never seen progs quite like in the inner chambers before - truely an example for others to follow. A few more of these progs could have been used though - particuarly in the "poorer" parts of town and such. Also, i felt Khafre needed fleshing out, ala the Master of Time in nexus. It makes the mob feel more..realistic.

So far as area design goes, it's passable in most parts, building up to master-level work in the pyramid. Things are logical and in the proper places; nothing here suprised or shocked me with it's "out of placeness". One odd thing was that the Pharoh's Wives wandered about the city - one would think they would be safely secured. The layout is in a non-symetrical system, which makes exploration interesting; but once you've seen it, you've seen it (as with most areas). Some of the "sub areas" are almost reasonable areas in them selves, particuarly the "Military corridor" and the Nile area.

Most mobs aren't agressive to heros (at least without reason), and the quest is manageable for anyone over about 50, i'd guess - at least the "death wand" quest; though charmies might be needed for the last bit (or a bit of luck). One annoying thing concerns Khafre (the pharoh's) guards. The 2 "elite" guard attack you if you attack him, but his body guard just stands there, blankly staring into space. Truely an "odd" thing. This "glitch" makes the pharoh killable though; without it, you'd be hard pressed to kill both guards and the body guard at once.

Over all i think you should take a look at this area; some of the gear is notable, but mostly it's just interesting to see how the progs work and such. Try to find the quests - thier worth it, if only for an Evo-Like situation outside of evo. It's a bit out of the way - far south deserts - but easy enough to gate to, and no one under "gating level" would really have need of going here. A very interesting area - as i've said :)
