64-65 Evoloution by Staff

For some time now, I've been involved with this evo; 2 characters so far have "hit the wall" with it - pretty sad. The main reason for this is that it's a rather unique evo so far as they go; similar in spirit to 62, you go into an "evo area" then come out into the "real world" to do quests - mostly mob and item location. What sets this one apart is that the god (mercury if you were unaware), is in a "cloud area", which is basically a large, 3 or 4 story box, which is full of various creatures.

Some of these creatures are intriquing - making me wonder if they originated in Mythology, Dungeons and Dragons, or some other forum. Other's are positivly bizzare - the bug like Aakacorkrans, the positivly Quixotic Tanar'ri. Truely, in an other wise "bland" area, the mobs add a flavor and urgency that would other wise make the chore of locating mercury quite tedious. It also doesn't hurt that some of these mobs have the best weapons on the face of the planet.

The acutal room descriptions are fairly bland - they set an image of you amoung the clouds, flying (drifting?) about above the countryside. Interestingly, it's -5 mv a room here, which is quite strenuous. The area is spacious, giving a "wide open" feeling, which makes the paranoia of running into the agressives rather disconcerting - i'm used to that in "cavern" or other enclosed areas.

One interesting note is there's a "push button" here; the first i've encountered in my travels. It's painfully obvious upon first entering the area, as well. Interestingly as well, the "free" potions here are worth 16 gold at nikitas, making some serious money a possibility, which is only fair, in admittance - the ticket is 80 gold, and you will most likely die often, unless you are able to have charmies here.

There's no advice i can offer on finding mercury - his location appears random, but yet he's usually quite stationary when you find him. As a mob he's interesting (as most of the Evo gods are), in that he's well described, and helps give a feeling of place, which is key in this type of venture.

All told it's an interesting and lucrative evo, full of the best weapons, valuable potions, and a goodly bit of adventure/exploration outside the evo - it's a true challange; unfortuante that most of that challange is in finding mercury himself, isntead of completing the various quests. I would say check it out - but you know you gotta :)
